Cross Ventilation: A natural form of ventilating a building or space with the forces of wind. Winds can enter through an opening on the lower levels of the structure like an open window or gable. The air can then move upwards throughout the building and exit through a roof or upper level window or perhaps vent.

Stack Ventilation: Utilization of the buoyancy of different airs and the placement of a central duct or vent to release air back into the atmosphere. Cool air enters through windows or gables and as it moves through the building it reaches the center where it will rise and flow out of a chimney like structure.
Wind Rose Diagrams: A chart to explain the strength and direction of winds on a particular day in a certain rejoin or city. On the left a wind rose diagram from October 11th, a with generally strong winds from the northwest and a few gusts from the southwest. On the right a wind rose diagram from March 3rd, with a large portion of the light winds coming from the south and southeast.
